 president H.E Mr. Edgar Lungu appealed to their logic and intellect stating plainly that they had a choice to vote for a PF candidate in the local government elections and see unprecedented development or vote for an opposition candidate and remain behind while he was still going to remain president now and for a long while to come and the outcome in the closely contested polls between the PF and UPND candidates the two rival parties in a former UPND strong hold which in now without a doubt a new PF strong hold after the PF scooped the seat and from the spectators view it's clear that there is still no wind of change as the PF have kept on winning most of the parliamentary and local government elections that have been held so all eyes now are set for the Roan and Bahati parliamentary bye elections which will take place soon. Below is the apeal that the president made to the electorates in Kafue a day before the polls whose outcome has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that the people heard the message from the president and acted upon it.

Addressing a rally at Kafue Estates grounds on the 26th of March 2019, Republican President of Zambia, His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu referred to himself as a seasoned President, and announced that he and his party, the PF, would be around for a long time because they were delivering development to the Zambian people.
He told the residents of Kafue that the writing was clearly on the wall for all to see. They had a choice to either jump onto the band wagon or to remain behind whilst the rest of the nation received its share of development.
He said that even if the people of Kafue decided not to vote for the PF candidate, he would remain their President and do his best for the them stating however that it would be difficult for an opposition person to approach him to lobby for development, not because he was unapproachable but because the person would not be allowed to do so by their party of origin and if that person defied their party orders and lobbied anyway, they would in all likelihood be suspended or expelled by that party.
The President appealed to the sence of logic of the Kafue residents and urged them to do a self introspection, ask themselves some very honest questions and exercise good judgement as the future of their children and children's children depended on the decisions they would make.
"Muleishiba Utuntu," he said. "My party the PF and I are here for a long time because when I came in, I didn't know much but now, I've learnt a whole lot. I am now a seasoned President. So if you keep voting for the opposition, you will continue to remain behind because am not going anywhere. My party is delivering development and we are around for a long time because people will continue voting for us," he said.
Clear, clean and concise, Edgar Lungu delivered his messege. And as the people of Kafue leaned closer to listern to his wisdom, he punctured holes in the fasade credibility of the opposition who had previously held the seat.
He made the people of Kafue realise that they were short changing themselves by remaining in the opposition because the one who was holding the resource envelope was none other than then himself and that if they wanted to see development, the only logical thing to do was to be in the same camp as the one holding the resource envelope.
The biggest asset Edgar Lungu posses is his ability to connect with the ordinary people. His ordinary guy next door personality has endured him to many a Zambian citizen.
Punch lines he used such as Muleishiba Utunta, Chinja team Ukolewe, among others, kept the people of Kafue entertained as he informed and educated them on the dangers of being rigid and failing to move with the times by joining a team that would provide them the much sought after ecominc emancipation they so desired.
"Ushumfwa patunono napa fingi takomfwe," he had said. And the people of Kafue heard and demonstrated that they had indeed heard by voting for the PF Candidate, Gen Moono Simakoloi as Council Chairperson for Kafue.
